Medical laboratory science is the foundation of modern medical care in the country. It provides the “engine room” of the modern medicine with 70% of diagnosis based on pathology results provided by laboratory services. Medical technologists and technicians carry out testing without which diagnosis and treatment amongst others would not be possible in the medical circles.

Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists perform a wide range of medical tests which include histology, biochemical, microbiology and parasitology. These tests enable the physician in diagnosing diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, HIV/AIDS, TB and cancer. The results are then analyzed and relayed to physicians. The correct diagnosis enables clinicians to implement the required treatment thus ensuring people resume their normal productive work lives.

The Outspan Medical College has been inspected and approved by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians board to train Medical laboratory officers at diploma level with prospects bachelor of medical science.
