Community Engagement

Outspan Medical College students have extensively engaged themselves in community activity. The purpose of this assignation is to interrelate and dole out the community in all welfares at large. This is based on the reality that, the College isn’t only based on the students’ interest but also the general community at large.

Through the students’ governance and the administration, they have created sky-crapping bustles which have made a difference in the community. They have widely participated in activities such as;

Student fundraising initiatives

The OMC students participated fully in the Kenyans for Kenya Campaign by skipping a meal and with also the support of their sister institution, the Outspan Hospital, the student managed to raise over 300,000 shillings for our fellow needy Kenyans.

Visit to children’s home

With the support of the OMC administration, the Student governance and the Red Cross Club, the students have visited several children homes including the Lipela Children’s home. They usually undertake activities such as; entertaining the children, cleaning of the home, feeding the children, teaching the children the importance of proper hygiene and the acceptance of their status and most important mentoring these children.

De-worming of the community children

With the support of the Outspan Hospital, the OMC students have de-wormed children during activities such as OMC sports, visit to children homes etc.

Medical camps

In conjunction with the Outspan Hospital, the students have participated in free medical camps where they usually give free medical services to the community. The student and qualified doctors and nurses managed to offer free medical services at Kandara in Nyeri where they treated over 750 people.
