Perioperative Theatre Technology
Perioperative Theatre Technology consists of competencies that an individual must achieve to provide services in an Operation Theatre set-up in a Hospital. It entails preventing nosocomial infections, providing technical services to the theatre team, maintaining safety of patients and the theatre team, caring for theatre instruments, participating in provision of clinical services in operation theatre and executing administrative and managerial responsibilities in a hospital with an operation theatre.
Duties in a Hospital Setting:
- Work in CSSD as sterilizing technicians
- Participate in Peri-operative technical services
- Manage Operation Theatre resources
- Supervising activities/administrative duties
- Technologists serve as anesthetist assistants
- Operating theatre machines and equipment
- Supporting surgeons/nurses in clinical services in hospital
- Preparation of operating theatre room
- Providing first aid services / CPR
- Participate in health education, promotion services and programs in the community
- Undertake sales & marketing of operation theatre instruments/equipment
The Outspan Medical College offers Perioperative Theatre Technology Level 5 and Level 6.
